Architectural Rigging & Stainless Steel Cable Systems
Bespoke stainless steel wire rope assemblies, cable balustrades, tension rod systems and tensile-structure rigging for residential, commercial and specialist architectural projects.
Martin Leaning Masts & Rigging combines practical rigging experience with high-quality architectural cable hardware to help turn drawings, concepts and site requirements into clean, professionally specified cable and tensioning systems.
Stainless Steel Rigging Beyond the Marine Environment
Stainless steel wire rope is an effective architectural material wherever strength, clean lines and minimal visual obstruction are important. The same disciplines involved in professional yacht rigging — accurate measurement, appropriate wire selection, reliable terminations and controlled tension — are equally important in architectural applications.
We work with homeowners, designers, architects, contractors, fabricators and specialist installers who need a practical route from an idea or drawing to a finished cable assembly.
Projects can range from a small set of stainless steel balustrade cables to multiple bespoke assemblies or specialist tension-rod systems.

We can help specify and supply stainless steel cable and tensioning systems for a broad range of architectural applications.
Cable Balustrades & Infill
Minimal stainless steel cable systems for balconies, terraces, decking, stairs and other architectural infill applications where maintaining an open view is important.
Tension Rods & Structural Bracing
Stainless steel tension-rod and tie-bar systems for architectural bracing, roof structures, trusses, glazed structures and other engineered applications.
Canopies & Tensile Structures
Cable assemblies, boundary cables, tensioners and associated fittings for canopies, shade structures and specialist tensile fabric installations.
Bespoke Wire Rope Assemblies
Made-to-measure stainless steel cable assemblies with selected end fittings, adjusters and tensioning arrangements manufactured to an agreed project specification.
Architectural Cable Hardware From a Specialist UK Manufacturer
We can incorporate Sta-Lok architectural wire rope fittings and tensioning systems into projects where a high-quality stainless steel solution is required.
The range covers architectural cable assemblies, swaged and self-fit terminals, adjusters, turnbuckles, threaded fittings and structural tension-rod systems.
This gives us the flexibility to select a solution around the project rather than forcing every application into one standard cable-and-terminal arrangement.
- 316 stainless steel architectural fittings
- 1x19, 7x7 and 7x19 stainless steel wire options
- Swaged and hand-fit terminal arrangements
- Discrete architectural adjusters and tensioners
- Tension rods and tie-bar systems
- Bespoke made-to-measure cable assemblies

Wire Rope, Terminals & Tensioning Hardware
Stainless Steel Wire Rope
Wire construction is selected to suit the application. For straight, tensioned architectural cable runs, 1x19 stainless steel wire is often appropriate. More flexible constructions such as 7x7 or 7x19 may be specified where the geometry or application requires greater flexibility.
Swaged Terminals
Professionally swaged terminals provide a neat permanent termination and are available in a range of stud, eye, fork, toggle and tensioning configurations.
Self-Fit Terminals
Sta-Lok self-fit terminals can be particularly useful where a cable needs to be finally terminated on site. Depending on the system, this can reduce the need for exact finished-length measurement before the cable reaches site.
Adjusters & Turnbuckles
Correct adjustment is fundamental to a tensioned cable system. Architectural adjusters, threaded fittings and turnbuckles allow tension to be introduced while keeping the finished installation visually clean.
From Concept to Finished Cable Assembly
Tell Us About the Project
Send drawings, sketches, photographs, approximate dimensions and information about the intended application.
Develop the Rigging Specification
We review the likely wire or rod system, terminal arrangement, adjustment requirement and practical installation considerations.
Confirm Dimensions & Interfaces
Final dimensions, quantities, fixing interfaces and fitting choices are agreed before manufacture or ordering.
Manufacture & Supply
Cable assemblies and associated hardware are prepared to the agreed specification and supplied ready for the next stage of the project.
What Should You Send Us?
You do not need a complete technical specification before contacting us. The more information you can provide, however, the quicker we can understand the requirement.
Architectural Rigging FAQs
Yes. Bespoke cable assemblies can be manufactured to agreed dimensions with appropriate terminal and adjustment arrangements. The required measurement method will depend on the fittings used.
Can you help if I do not know which fittings I need?Yes. Send us photographs, drawings or a sketch of the proposed installation. We can discuss suitable wire rope, terminals and tensioning options before preparing a quotation.
Do you supply cable systems for balustrades?Yes. Stainless steel cable systems can provide a clean, low-profile infill for appropriate balustrade applications. Cable spacing, loads, supporting structure and regulatory compliance must be considered as part of the overall design.
Can cables be terminated on site?In suitable applications, Sta-Lok self-fit terminals allow the final termination to be made using hand tools. This can be useful where final site dimensions need to be accommodated.
Do you supply tension rods as well as wire rope?Yes. Architectural tension-rod and tie-bar systems are available for engineered applications including bracing, roof structures and specialist architectural features.
Do you provide structural engineering calculations? We can advise on rigging hardware, cable assemblies and practical fitting options. Structural loads, anchorage design, supporting structure and compliance with applicable building requirements should be confirmed by the project's architect, structural engineer or other suitably qualified designer.
