Seldén Furlex 204S for 6–8 mm Forestays

The Furlex 204S sits in the middle of Seldén's fourth-generation Furlex range and is intended for yachts of approximately 28–40 ft using 6, 7 or 8 mm forestay wire.

Rather than selecting a Furlex only by yacht length, the correct system should be matched to the existing rig, forestay diameter, required forestay length and lower-terminal arrangement. The options below correspond with the selectable 204S combinations on this product.

Standard Sta-Lok or Integrated Rigging Screw?

Standard Sta-Lok Terminal

The standard 204S installation uses a Sta-Lok mechanical terminal at the lower end of the supplied forestay wire. The wire is cut to the required finished length during installation and assembled into the terminal.

Sta-Lok Terminal with Rigging Screw

The alternative configuration incorporates a rigging screw into the Furlex lower terminal assembly. This allows adjustment of forestay length and mast rake while keeping the tack arrangement integrated with the Furlex installation.

What Is Included?

The normal complete Furlex 204S kit is supplied as a complete furling installation and includes the furling components, new forestay wire, furling line and installation accessories.

Seldén also offers a Basic kit for replacement installations where existing accessories can be reused. In that version, items such as the stanchion blocks, halyard lead, prefeeder and Torx bits are excluded.

Furlex 204S Design

The 204S uses Seldén's aluminium luff extrusion system with the forestay centred through the extrusion. The system is designed so the extrusion rotates around the forestay while reducing contact between the wire and foil.

The halyard swivel uses marine-grade stainless-steel bearing components to provide low furling resistance and long service life. The luff extrusion also provides twin sail grooves, allowing conventional headsail hoisting and sail changes.

Choosing Between Furlex Models

The 204S covers 6–8 mm forestays. If your yacht uses a different forestay diameter, compare the Seldén Furlex 104S, 204S, 304S and 404S range before ordering.

Correct selection depends on the rig and forestay specification, not yacht length alone. If you are replacing an existing furler or complete forestay, our riggers can help confirm the required diameter, finished forestay length and lower-terminal arrangement before manufacture.
