The fourth generation of Furlex is an uncompromising evolution of the world’s best selling jib furling and reefing system. Proven design blended with innovation is our way to maintain the iconic heritage of Furlex.
The halyard swivel for Furlex 304S features ball bearings and ball bearing races made from marine grade stainless steel, just like any other Furlex model since 1983. Low furling resistance, low maintenance and long life.
Furlex, as in previous generations, comes as a complete kit including all parts needed for reliable and convenient furling of the foresail. It even includes a new forestay wire, furling line, stanchion lead blocks, a halyard lead and a prefeeder. A simple purchase.
Similar to previous Furlex models, the standard kit requires that the wire is cut to length and fixed with a ‘Sta-lok’ mechanical wire locking system. A completely integrated rigging screw is offered as an option. It allows for adjustment of the forestay length without altering the height of the tack attachment. You can choose the Forestay Diameter, Max. Length and the type of termination, either Standard Sta-lok terminal or a Sta-lok terminal & rigging screw.
If you need any help choosing the right Furlex please get in touch and one of our rigging experts can advise you.

When it comes to headsail furling systems, few names carry the pedigree and trust of Seldén’s Furlex range. The Furlex 304S, part of the fourth-generation lineup, is engineered for yachts up to 15 tonnes displacement and represents a fusion of durability, innovation, and ease of use.
Whether you're cruising across the Channel or racing offshore, the 304S offers the kind of reliability that seasoned sailors demand.
Seldén’s hallmark innovation—a patented load distributor—ensures low furling resistance and exceptional bearing durability. This design evenly spreads the load across the bearing surfaces, reducing wear and making furling smoother under load.
The 304S features a twin-groove foil, allowing for rapid sail changes and the option to fly twin headsails—ideal for downwind sailing or racing configurations.
An optional integrated rigging screw allows precise forestay adjustment without altering the tack height. This is especially useful for tuning mast rake or adjusting sail shape without compromising furling performance.
The halyard swivel is designed to minimize weight aloft, improving sail balance and reducing pitching. It also rotates freely under load, preventing halyard wrap and ensuring consistent furling.
The system includes insulated joining sleeves and a composite connector, which reduce galvanic corrosion and improve longevity—especially important for yachts in saltwater environments.

The Furlex 304S comes as a complete kit, including:
Installation can be completed in a few hours with basic tools, and the system is designed to be user-friendly even for DIY riggers.
Sailors report that the 304S performs smoothly in light and heavy conditions alike. The split drum and line guide system ensure the furling line coils evenly, reducing jams and friction. The tack swivel allows the sail to furl tightly and evenly, preserving sail shape even when reefed.
However, like any furling system, proper setup is key. Issues such as halyard wrap or excessive forestay tension can impair performance. Regular inspection and correct halyard tensioning are essential for optimal operation.
The Furlex 304S is best suited for:
The Furlex 304S is more than just a furling system—it’s a precision-engineered solution for serious sailors. With its robust construction, thoughtful design, and proven performance, it stands as one of the top choices for yachts in the 10–15 tonne range.
Whether you're upgrading your rig or outfitting a new build, the 304S delivers the kind of confidence that only comes from decades of Seldén innovation.
