A telescopic whisker pole is a piece of sailing equipment used to stabilize the jib or genoa sail when sailing downwind. It's essentially a telescoping pole that extends from the mast to the clew (the back corner) of the sail, holding it out to catch the wind more effectively1. This setup, known as "wing on wing," allows for smoother and faster sailing. The telescopic feature means the pole can be adjusted in length and locked into place, making it versatile for different sail sizes and conditions.
