Tacking the sail at deck level allows for a longer luff length of your foresail. You will improve sailing performance without compromising the convenience of the jib furling system. The bow will also be less cluttered as the line drum is hidden below the deck. The free turn of the tack swivel is the same as in all other Furlex models; a necessity to reduce the furling resistance and to flatten out a reefed genoa. The MkII version of Furlex TD (Through Deck) has all the benefits developed for the standard 4th generation Furlex, such as, smooth furling with roller bearings combined with stainless ball bearings for the drum and an optional rigging screw to adjust the forestay length. In addition, the outside diameter of the line drum is smaller than on earlier TD models which simplifies installation in narrow anchor boxes and allows for installation further forward.
The kit requires that the wire is cut to length and fixed with a ‘Sta-lok’ mechanical wire locking system. A completely integrated rigging screw is offered as an option. It allows for adjustment of the forestay length without altering the height of the tack attachment. You can choose the Forestay Diameter, Max. Length and the type of termination, either Standard Sta-lok terminal or a Sta-lok terminal & rigging screw.

The Furlex 304TD is Seldén’s premium through-deck furling system for yachts up to 15 tonnes displacement. It combines the proven mechanics of the Furlex 304S with a below-deck drum configuration—giving sailors a longer luff length, improved sail efficiency, and a cleaner foredeck. Whether you're optimizing your rig for offshore cruising or upgrading for performance, the 304TD delivers sleek functionality without compromise.
The furling drum is mounted beneath the deck, allowing the sail to be tacked at deck level. This increases the effective luff length, improving sail shape and pointing ability—especially valuable for performance-oriented cruisers.
The MkII version features a smaller drum diameter than earlier TD models, simplifying installation in narrow anchor lockers and enabling placement further forward for optimal geometry.
The tack swivel rotates freely under load, reducing furling resistance and helping flatten the sail when reefed—essential for maintaining sail shape in heavy conditions.
The system uses roller bearings and stainless steel ball bearings in the drum and swivel, ensuring smooth furling under load and long-term durability.
An integrated rigging screw is available, allowing forestay adjustment without altering tack height—ideal for tuning mast rake or sail tension.

The Furlex 304TD is delivered as a complete installation kit, including:
Installation requires access to the anchor locker or bow compartment and is best performed by a professional rigger or experienced boatyard.
Sailors who install the 304TD report noticeable gains in sail efficiency, thanks to the longer luff and lower tack position. The hidden drum reduces clutter on the bow, improving safety during anchoring and sail handling. Despite its compact design, the 304TD maintains the smooth furling action and low friction operation that define the Furlex brand.
It’s especially popular among performance cruisers and owners of modern yachts designed with through-deck systems in mind.
The Furlex 304TD is best suited for:
The Furlex 304TD is a sleek, high-performance solution for sailors who want the benefits of manual furling with a cleaner deck layout and improved sail geometry.
