Seldén Furlex 40S Jib Furling System
0 Review(s)Seldén Furlex 40S is a compact jib furling system for dinghies, keelboats and small multihulls using a 4 mm forestay. It is designed for sails with a maximum recommended LP measurement of 3000 mm.
The 40S furls the sail around a rotating forestay wire rather than around an aluminium foil. It has no luff extrusion and is therefore intended for furling, not reefing. Forestay wire is not included with the kit.

The Furlex 40S complete kit includes the top swivel, halyard swivel, furling drum, tack fitting and furling line.
The structural 4 mm forestay wire is not included. The forestay forms the furling axis and rotates with the sail when the jib is furled.
Furling Rather Than Reefing
The 40S does not use the luff extrusion found on larger conventional Furlex systems. Because there is no aluminium foil supporting the sail luff, Seldén specifies the 20S, 30S and 40S as furling systems rather than reefing systems.
The jib should therefore be designed and used as a sail that is either deployed or furled away, rather than partially rolled as a reefed working sail.
40S Compared With the 30S
Both the Furlex 30S and 40S are designed around 4 mm forestay wire, but the 40S accommodates the larger sail.
