Custom Dyneema Halyards – Built to Your Specification

Our Racing Dyneema halyards are custom built by the Martin Leaning Masts & Rigging team using Kingfisher Racing Dyneema with a high-performance 12-strand PU-coated Dyneema® SK78 core and a high-tenacity polyester cover.

Racing Dyneema Breaking Loads

The figures below are manufacturer-published minimum break strengths. They are not safe working loads; rope selection must also consider yacht loads, deck hardware, sheave diameter, clutches, splices and appropriate safety factors.

Which Diameter Dyneema Halyard Do I Need?

The correct halyard diameter depends on the yacht, sail area, expected loads and the deck hardware through which the rope runs.

Always check that the selected rope diameter is compatible with your existing sheaves, rope clutches, winches and other deck hardware. If you are uncertain, our riggers are happy to advise before you order.

Custom Spliced Dyneema Halyards

For most Dyneema halyards we recommend a cow hitch splice. This gives a strong, compact termination and allows a suitable halyard shackle or fitting to be attached.

You can configure the required termination and fitting when ordering. If you are replacing an existing halyard, measure the finished length carefully before ordering.

Dyneema Halyards for Cruising and Racing Yachts

Although Racing Dyneema is an obvious choice for performance yachts, its low stretch and high strength also make it an excellent upgrade for cruising yachts where accurate sail control and reduced halyard stretch are important.
