Guard Rail Wires (4-8mm)

Martin Leaning’s online rigging calculator is divided into five main categories, each suited to different vessel types and rigging needs. Let’s break down how to use each one effectively.

Step 1: Go to the Standing Rigging Page

Start at the Standing Rigging page. https://martinleaning.co.uk/113-standing-rigging

Step 2: Choose Your Rigging Type

You’ll find several categories:

  • Yacht Rigging 1x19 (3–14mm)
  • Dinghy Rigging 1x19 (2.5–4mm)
  • Flexible Wire 7x19 (3–10mm)
  • Guard Rail Wires (4–8mm, with optional PVC coating)
  • Compacted Strand Wire (Dyform) (3–12mm)

Step 3: Choose the Guard Rail Wire 7x19 (4-8mm, with optional PVC coating)

Go to page https://martinleaning.co.uk/standing-rigging/1271-yacht-guard-rail-wires.html

Best for: Replacement rigging for Dinghies, Keelboats and Yachts Wire type: KOS 1x19 stainless steel

How to use:

  • Select Custom Build Wire to configure a complete wire with end fittings.
  • Choose your Wire Diameter (4–8mm, with optional PVC coating).
  • Enter the exact Length in metres. Our website will accept a length to 3 decimal points. However, this is not usually practicable. We aim to produce your rigging to a tolerance of + or - the diameter of the wire. The bearing edge is the point/surface at the end of a termination that will take the load i.e., the inside edge of an eye. The picture shows examples of typical bearing edges - The point from which your measurements should be taken. Please take extra care when ordering because once a custom-built product has been started (cut), it can neither be cancelled nor returned for a refund.
