The J/70 guide helps owners decide what may need replacing, what can be priced indicatively and what still needs measuring. The furler section is useful for checking whether the existing forestay system should be retained, replaced or considered alongside a wider furling upgrade. Two boats of the same model can nevertheless differ after years of owner upgrades, previous re-rigging or changes to the mast and headsail-furling system. If the old rigging is available, copying the original stay set after checking its condition and dimensions is usually more dependable than manufacturing solely from a model-based schedule.
