The Swan 78 rigging guide is designed to help owners scope a replacement project before any parts are manufactured. Mast-and-boom guidance is shown as an additional reference only, keeping a possible spar replacement separate from the normal standing-rigging scope. Changes made during earlier refits are often found at the ends of the stays rather than in the wire itself, which is why terminal style, pin size and turnbuckle thread need checking. The lowest-risk approach is to verify the complete existing set: stay count, material, diameter, finished length, terminals, pins, rigging screws and all forestay/furling interfaces.
